NJATMC Scholarship
The New Jersey Association of Twins’ Mothers Clubs, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded for educational, research and social purposes.
The Scholarship Committee of NJATMC has been awarding scholarships since 1978. We coordinate both the Scholarship for Higher Education and the Dorothy Ahern Memorial Scholarship.
The purpose of the Scholarship for Higher Education is to provide aid in the form of a grant to assist in the payment of scholastic or other expenses arising out of the pursuit of a post-secondary education: college, trade, or technical.
According to our By-Laws, Article III, Eligibility “Scholarship(s) shall be offered to member multiple birth children and/or their siblings. They shall also be offered to non-member multiples and/or their siblings whose secondary school of education falls within the area served by the local club hosting the annual convention of the NJATMC in that convention year.”
The Dorothy Ahern Memorial Scholarship is awarded to member mothers of multiples who are continuing their education while raising a family.
Dot Ahern, of the Twins and Triplets Club of the Lake Area, was one of our early members and was a member of the Scholarship Committee in the early 1980’s. NJATMC and the friendships made through twin clubs were extremely important to her. When illness weakened her body, her spirit became stronger. Her presence is missed but her spirit lives on through this award.
Scholarship applications are judged in three categories:
Academic Accomplishments
Character
Financial Need
NJATMC encourages each local club to donate annually to the scholarship fund.
